ACS supplies Sydney’s TALLEST and OLDEST skyscrapers

We have just completed the supply of 1700 TROX active chilled beams to Circular Quay Tower (CQT, also known as Salesforce Tower or 180 George Street), Sydney’s tallest commercial tower at 261m. Excellent levels of occupant comfort was demonstrated during three weeks of project-specific testing conducted at TROX laboratory in Malaysia, and our logistics team worked closely with the mechanical contractor to ensure that all product was delivered ‘as required’ on a level-by-level basis.

A few metres from CQT stands the historic 33 Alfred Street, which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and will soon take delivery of the first consignment of 1200 TROX active chilled beams. Opened in 1962, it is considered Sydney’s first skyscraper and was Australia’s tallest building in its’ day. The brief to accommodate an advanced HVAC system within an existing building structure/module presented numerous challenges, however the ability to ’tease through’ issues during comfort testing at the manufacturer’s laboratory proved invaluable to the design team. The result—with a couple of smart product modifications—is a system that stay’s true to the original architectural intent, whilst delivering class-leading comfort for occupants and energy savings to the client.
