Monodraught
Monodraught is a pioneering “Green Tech” company from the UK, with 45+ years’ experience in natural ventilation and hybrid ventilation.
WINDCATCHER ZERO
Natural Ventilation
Supplying fresh air into buildings utilising passive effects of wind speed or difference in internal and external air pressure is a sustainable and low carbon ventilation system with very low running costs, minimal moving parts, and a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
Windcatcher technology incorporates more than just a passive stack system, with its unique design driving air into the space to generate a positive pressure within the room, which in conjunction with temperature differentials, assists in exhausting the stale air.
Applicable to educational facilities, offices and reception areas, visitor centres, prisons and restaurants.
Why WINDCATCHER?
- Innovative and robust modular construction
- Air flow optimised ducting design
- Extremely quiet operation
- Low running costs
- Remote data monitoring
- Reduces overall heating loads
- Comfortable environment during peak times
- Heat exchanger core – Windcatcher Zero model only
WINDCATCHER ZERO
Operation Modes
Natural Ventilation
The Windcatcher system encapsulates the prevailing wind, and turns that wind movement through 90° in to the space. Fresh air is brought into the room and stale air is expelled using the negative pressure on the leeward side of the Windcatcher as well as the buoyancy and stack effect of warmer air rising within the space.
Boost Fan
Utilising the PV panels the Windcatcher Zero can provide a boosted ventilation rate without the use of grid power. This ensures that even when there are periods of very low wind speed the ventilation rates required are met.
Heat Recovery
To avoid cold draughts, when the temperature of the outside air is lower than the internal, the Windcatcher Zero can deliver tempered air via the ‘Air to Air’ heat recovery core. The counter flow core enables efficient exchange of heat from the stale exhaust air through an ultra-thin aluminium membrane. The high efficiency core and low power fans automatically minimises the heating requirements whilst optimising air quality.
Cool Recovery
The Windcatcher Zero can maintain a greater level of comfort conditions compared to conventional natural ventilation systems. To keep an internal space cooler during hot periods The Windcatcher Zero can cool the incoming fresh air by utilising the ‘Air to Air’ heat recovery core. The efficient recovery of cold from the exhausted air reduces room temperatures when compared to natural ventilation or reduces demand on auxiliary cooling systems.
WINDCATCHER X-AIR & SOLA-BOOST X-AIR
Operation Modes
Natural Ventilation
External temp >15°C and internal temp >21°C or CO2 >1000ppm
The X-Air Thermal Mixing Unit can provide natural ventilation through the buoyancy of the internal air and wind pressures exerted upon the system at roof level. Warm air is extracted through the leeward side of the system due to the negative pressure upon the roof terminal. Fresh air is entrained in the windward side.
Boost Fan
External temp >15°C and internal temp >26°C or CO2 >1400ppm
The X-Air Thermal Mixing unit can supply boosted ventilation during daytime conditions, when the internal temperature is greater than 26°C to supplement natural ventilation and to ensure good internal air quality.
Additionally, during summertime periods supplemented night-time cooling can be provided.
Hybrid Thermal Mixing
External temp <15°C and internal temp >22°C or CO2 >1200ppm
When the external air temperature is below the set point the X-Air Thermal Mixing Unit switches to thermal mixing operation. The hybrid fan is used to mix room air with ventilation air to provide tempered fresh air. Within the X-Air system louvres modulate restricting the level of natural ventilation with the resulting pressure differential forcing room air to mix within the central fan core.
HVR ZERO
Natural Ventilation
HVR ZERO is a future generation low energy hybrid ventilation system integrating HEX ventilation strategies to provide natural ventilation, hybrid mixing ventilation and low energy mechanical heat recovery ventilation in one compact unit. Operating autonomously to ensure optimum indoor air quality is maintained with the lowest possible energy use.
Applicable to educational facilities, offices, lecture halls, libraries, and healthcare centres.
Why HVR ZERO?
- Zero embodied carbon
- Zero operational carbon
- Innovative and robust modular construction
- Quiet with no noise disruption
- Low running costs
- Remote data monitoring
- IES modules available for accurate modelling
- Comfortable environment during peak times
HVR ZERO
Operation Modes
Natural Ventilation Mode
Dampers are opened, natural ventilation combined with openable windows expel stale air and ventilates the space with fresh external air.
Boost Fan Mode
Dampers are opened and mechanical fan operates to bring fresh air into the room. Especially useful in summer months.
Mixed Recirculation Mode
Dampers are opened, mechanical fan operates, stale indoor air is expelled, warm internal air is recirculated and tempers fresh external air via separate discharge pathways.
Night-time Cooling
Peak ventilation during summer nights removes warm air from the space ready for the next day.
HVR ZERO X
As per HVR ZERO but with additional heat recovery
Heat Recovery Mode
During winter periods, the crossflow heat exchanger increases the temperature of the intake outside air by harvesting heat from the indoor environment whilst expelling stale air.
HVR ZERO X+
As per HVR ZERO X but with additional pre-heating and occupied heating modes
Pre-Heating Mode
Recirculates indoor air across the heat exchanger coil to pre-heat the room before the start of the day.
Occupied Heating Mode
When the room is too cool, the off-coil temperature is limited, flow rate reduced, and room air is recirculated.
HVR ZERO XC+
As per HVR ZERO X+ but with additional Cooling mode
Cooling Mode
If the internal temperature of an occupied space is too high, the system will actively cool the space by recirculating room air over the coil. It also has the ability to cool external fresh air should the CO2 level rise too high.

Kampmann
Katherm Trench Systems
The Katherm trench system range from Kampmann is of exceptional quality and diversity and has been applied to some very prestigious projects throughout the world. The approach from this German market-leader is to adapt heating, cooling and ventilation products perfectly to the interior architecture, meeting demanding expectations from both the mechanical engineer and architect.
As its name suggests, trench technology is accommodated within the floor or raised floor. Depending on the trench technology version, they heat or cool the air in the room. The air rises through the heat carrier (convector or coil), creating a comfortable indoor climate. Apart from heating a room, trench technology can also be used to screen cold air in front of large areas of glazing, preventing them from misting up. Trench technology provides effective temperature control, at the same time blending seamlessly into the overall interior design. The units are available in a range of dimensions and with different functions.
Once the trench system has been installed in the floor, the convector trench is stylishly covered by a metallic aluminium, brass or stainless-steel roll-up or linear grilles. They can also be finished with decorative wooden grilles.
Product Range
The trench system range from Kampmann is diverse and comprehensive, with product features summarised here.
Building Integration
Due to their visibility on the floor, it is important that a multitude of integration details can be accommodated between and around the installed product. Kampmann is very adept at providing bespoke solutions for pretty much any application.

Package Terminal Air Conditioner (PTAC)
Package Terminal Air Conditioner (PTAC)
The major advantage of using a PTAC unit is that there is no outdoor unit to locate on a balcony or wall. The units are self contained with only 2 external weather-proof grilles visible from the building facade. Internally, the units can be mounted at high level or more commonly at low level. Typical applications for PTAC units are hotel rooms, student accommodation & small apartments up to 30 m2 in area. Retrofitting PTAC’s into existing buildings is also possible.
ACS have been involved with suppling these niche units for over a decade. Units are designed and manufactured in Italy and their sleek finish seamlessly blends into its surrounding environments without being obtrusive. The units meet the regulatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS).
Hotels
Hotels cannot afford rooms to be out of commission. The flexibility of the PTAC units means it can be swapped-out for a spare unit with ease, allowing the original unit to be serviced off-site and affording full use of the space during the operation. Hotel Additional and significant building cost saving can also be realised by omitting a balcony that may be included just to accommodate an outdoor unit, which is not required with the PTAC unit.
No external unit requirement
This saves on space, balconies, building costs
Happy neighbours
The unit is installed within the room, therefore no noise impact for neighbours.
Serviceability
Units can be removed from wall for off-site service.
Accommodation
Units come standard with an onboard control panel and a remote control for convenience. Auto modes, dehumidification, fan speeds can all be selected. The units’ front panel displays the set temperature, and the front louvre delivers the air to the space for optimal comfort.
Simple installation
Single Phase 240 volt compatible.
Installation within the room
No external scaffolding or expensive equipment hire
High or Low installation
Can be installed under window sills, floor mounted or high level.
Apartments
One of the advantages of designing the infrastructure for these units at base build is that tenants the option take up the air conditioning element after apartment purchase. Even if the original owner did not proceed with the air conditioning option, the new owner/tenant can at a later stage have it installed at a reduced cost because the grille penetrations are already in place.
Model options
Cooling only or reverse cycle.
Remote control
Phone App available for Android and iPhone
MEPS Certified
